What is Coaching?

The International Coach Federation defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaches help people to improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives.
Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach’s job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.

Today’s need for coaching
Based on my years of coaching clients I have seen a need for coaching that is growing monthly. In my experience with business clients I am seeing a greater need for more foundational spiritual and personal/life coaching to help clients to be in a position to use business coaching in the most productive ways possible. Most household are familiar with the term coaching now as it relates to life and business as opposed to just sports. More people are looking to enhance the enjoyment and quality of their life experience than ever before— and are feeling empowered to do so. I feel fortunate to be among those on the forefront of this profession, as well as with Power Coaching and Mindscan/HVP work, especially as it pertains to athletes. The need and visibility are growing very quickly and has moved from fringe to mainstream.
